This Saturday, more than 100 memorial rides are planned worldwide to honor cyclist and ICU nurse Alex Pretti. Find a ride near you or learn how to organize one in your local community.

Memorial rides are set to take place across the United States and around the globe this Saturday to honor the life of Alex Pretti, a cyclist who died during a protest related to a federal immigration operation in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 24.

The rides aim to bring cyclists together in remembrance, reflection, and solidarity, while celebrating a life deeply connected to biking and the outdoors.

Remembering Alex Pretti

Alex Pretti was 37 years old and worked as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

Beyond his profession, he was known as a passionate cyclist and outdoor enthusiast. Friends, family members, and colleagues have described him as calm, kind, and deeply committed to his community.

His love for cycling is now being honored through a powerful grassroots movement that has quickly spread far beyond Minnesota.

A Community Effort Led by Local Bike Shops

Angry Catfish Bicycle Shop, where Pretti was a regular customer, is helping coordinate a memorial ride in Minneapolis on Saturday, January 31.

The ride will begin at Washburn Fair Oaks Park.

The shop has also invited cyclists everywhere to organize their own memorial rides.

To make this easier, they are offering downloadable artwork and ready to use text for flyers and social posts.

In a message shared on Instagram, the shop encouraged organizers to print the flyer and tag them on social media so they can help amplify each event.

Riders can also reach out directly via email at community@angrycatfishbicycle.com to receive additional digital materials created by Casey Robertson of Robertson Design.

Organizations Supporting the Minneapolis Ride

Several cycling groups and collectives are helping support or organize the Minneapolis event, including Bonesaw Cycling Collective, GenoSack, Melanin In Motion, The Price Brothers, Unsanctioned Ride group, and others.

Their involvement reflects the wide reach and strong sense of unity behind these memorial rides.
