Trek Celebrates 50 Years with Two Ultra Limited Madone Editions

Trek celebrates 50 years with ultra limited Madone editions featuring red rails, exclusive Aeolus wheels, and race ready pedigree. These are not just bikes, they are pieces of cycling history set to shine at the 2026 Tour de France.

Half a century in the cycling world is no small milestone.

To mark its 50th anniversary, Trek has unveiled a special collection that blends heritage, storytelling, and pure racing performance. At the center of this celebration are three standout models, available only during a six week reservation window and destined to become true collector’s items.

Even more exciting, these bikes will not just sit in showrooms.

They will be raced by Lidl-Trek during the 2026 editions of both the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes.

The 50th Anniversary Collection: Performance Meets Legacy

The collection revolves around two core concepts and three models:

  • The First 50 Project One ICON based on the Madone SLR 9 AXS
  • The First 50 Replica built on the Madone SL 7
  • No. 76 Project One ICON also crafted from the Madone SLR 9 AXS

Each bike tells a different chapter of Trek’s story, combining exclusive aesthetics with cutting edge engineering.

The First 50: A Visual Timeline on Two Wheels

Both the ICON and Replica versions transform the frame into a moving tribute to Trek’s history.

The graphics act as a timeline, highlighting defining moments from the company’s early days in a small Wisconsin barn to major initiatives such as NICA, the Y bike program, and its growing focus on sustainability.

It is more than a paint scheme. It is a narrative stretched across five decades of cycling innovation and culture.

The ICON Version: Built for the Tour

The Madone SLR 9 AXS The First 50 Project One ICON represents the most exclusive interpretation of this concept. This is the exact model chosen by Lidl-Trek for the 2026 Tour de France campaigns.

What makes it special?

  • Individual numbering on the seat stays
  • A white and red limited edition saddle with distinctive red rails
  • Aeolus RSL wheels featuring exclusive 50th anniversary graphics

Every detail elevates the bike from race machine to museum worthy piece.

The Replica: Same Story, Wider Access

The Madone SL 7 The First 50 Replica carries the same visual language and storytelling approach but is designed for a broader audience. It offers riders the chance to own a piece of the anniversary celebration without stepping into the highest tier of the lineup.

No. 76 ICON: A Direct Tribute to 1976

The Madone SLR 9 AXS No. 76 Project One ICON

If The First 50 is about storytelling through the decades, the No. 76 Project One ICON goes straight back to the beginning.

Also built exclusively on the Madone SLR 9 AXS platform, this edition revives the original 1976 logo. The design draws inspiration from the old brass address plate and the deep blue associated with Trek’s earliest handcrafted bikes.

This front logo recalls the plates that all the first Trek bikes had on the head tube

The aesthetic is more minimal and refined, yet equally exclusive. It honors the five employees who launched the brand from a humble barn in Wisconsin.

Like the First 50 ICON, it includes:

  • The distinctive saddle with red rails
  • Custom anniversary Aeolus wheels
  • A front logo inspired by the metal plates found on the very first Trek head tubes

More Than Just Bikes

The celebration does not stop with frames and wheels. Throughout the year, Trek will release a range of commemorative items including jerseys, water bottles, t shirts, and other accessories.

The anniversary calendar will also feature a special edition of the Trek 100, scheduled for June 20, 2026, at the company’s global headquarters in Waterloo.

With limited production and race level performance, these anniversary Madone models are not just bikes. They are rolling chapters of cycling history.
