Cycling will be strongly represented at the 2026 Laureus World Sports Awards, with Tadej Pogačar, Tom Pidcock, Simon Yates and Egan Bernal all named among this year’s nominees.

Pogačar has been shortlisted for the World Sportsman of the Year award after another winning season.

In 2025, the Slovenian rider won his fourth Tour de France title, defended his World Championships road race crown and added three Monument victories at the Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Il Lombardia.

He is up against athletes from other major sports, including pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, tennis players Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, footballer Ousmane Dembélé and MotoGP champion Marc Márquez.

Tom Pidcock is nominated for World Action Sportsperson of the Year, an award he won last year.

The British rider claimed the European Mountain Bike Championship title and also reached the podium at the Vuelta a España, marking an important step forward in his road career.

In the World Comeback of the Year category, both Simon Yates and Egan Bernal have been recognized.

Yates earned his place after winning the 2025 Giro d’Italia, completing a long-awaited return to the top following his dramatic loss of the race in 2018. Bernal is shortlisted after winning a stage at the Vuelta a España, his first major victory since his serious training crash in 2022.

The winners will be announced in Madrid on April 20.
