Colnago Launches Raw-Carbon Dark Series Bikes Inspired by Tadej Pogačar’s Tour de France Ride

May 19, 2026

Colnago’s new Dark Series Y1Rs and V5Rs strip away paint to reveal the raw carbon layup, pairing minimal graphics with chrome details and a clear protective finish. Inspired by Tadej Pogačar’s unpainted Tour de France Y1Rs, only 300 of each will be made, landing at Elite Dealers in early March.

Colnago has unveiled two limited-edition road bikes that highlight the raw carbon structure of their frames.

According to the Italian bike manufacturer, the concept focuses on performance and craftsmanship. Instead of covering the frame with paint, the Dark Series bikes show the natural carbon layup used in the construction of the frame. Small chrome details and a clear finish complete the design.

The idea comes directly from the raw-carbon Colnago Y1Rs used by Tadej Pogačar during the 2025 Tour de France.

After riding his standard Y1Rs in the early stages of the race, the Slovenian rider switched to the raw-carbon version for the stage 15 uphill time trial. He also rode the same bike on stage 16, which finished on Mont Ventoux.

Colnago previously said that a typical Y1Rs build weighs between 7.2 and 7.5 kilograms. Pogačar’s raw-carbon version weighed slightly more than 7 kilograms.

The brand also explained that the Y1Rs offers stronger aerodynamic performance than the V5Rs, even though the V5Rs is designed as a lighter climbing bike.

Only 300 bikes of each Dark Series model will be produced.

Production has already started, and the bikes will arrive at Colnago Elite Dealers in early March.

Prices have not yet been confirmed.
